GLOW DERMA PEN MESOTHERAPY

MICRONEEDLING

Skin Needling (also known as Micro-Needling) is a form of Collagen Induction Therapy that is intended to smooth wrinkles, improve depressed acne scarring as well as reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

It is one of the latest and most effective skin treatments available.

Who should have Meso Therapy?

Meso Therapy skin-needling and NANO non-needling are the latest and most effective skin treatments available. Both treatments are ideal for people with any concerns of aging skin, these concerns including visible signs of:

  • Dull skin color (due to less blood flow)
  • Hair loss– to improve thinning hair
  • Drooping facial shape (due to a decrease in collagen)
  • Skin feels dehydrated, and slightly rough
  • Scars, post-surgery scars, acne scars
  • Wrinkles and folds and fine lines
  • Stretch marks (pregnancy or weight gain)
  • Eye bags, wrinkles, and dark circles

If you want to look years younger but are looking for a less invasive treatment than cosmetic surgery – then Meso Therapy is for you. Skin-needling and Fusion NANO Meso Therapy is a powerful skin hydrator that plumps up the area of treatment, encouraging your skin to boost into repair mode to give you back that overall lift, and smoother texture and bringing back vibrancy by naturally delaying signs of aging.

How does Meso Therapy work?

Great results are achieved using the Glow Derma Pen™ with an adaptable needle length from 0.1 up to 2mm. The length is adapted to the body area and indication. In some instances, numbing cream will be applied to ensure minimal discomfort, which depends on the needle length used.

Using numbing cream and very small needles (for almost no pain), these needles penetrate the upper layers of skin to a depth of up to 2mm (depending on the needle length used).

Skin needling is the process carried out with a Micro-Needling therapy system (MTS): Device. The device uses NANO and 42 needles – so when using the Meso Pen for 1 minute – there are over 150,000 needle entries and over 900,000 for a full facial treatment.

These entries help the absorption of sterilized formulations containing peptides, hyaluronic acid, natural extracts, vitamins, and amino acids.

This process has two major benefits. It effectively stimulates collagen formation at the same time as allowing product absorption more effectively through the top layer (epidermis) of the skin. Skin-needling creates a very minor (almost microscopic) trauma that lasts for a short time and does not usually result in bruising or swelling or bleeding in the treated area.

The microscopic punctures (which are often just the opening of the pores of your skin) stimulate collagen production in the dermis layer as it breaks some of the blood vessels directly below the surface of the skin. As the blood clots, it creates the right environment for collagen and elastin formation. It is these key ingredients which help the skin to appear rejuvenated.

  • Acne scarring
  • Stretch marks
  • Anti aging
  • Rejuvenating
  • Collagen production
  • Cellulite treatment
  • Hair loss restoration

The most common areas treated are the face, décolletage, thighs, buttocks, abdomen, and waistline. The upper arms, under the chin, and lower cheeks can also be treated.

What is the difference between dermal roller and Meso Therapy?

The Glow Derma Pen™ does not produce scratches and produces less irritation and redness, it is easier to handle for smaller areas like eyes and lip contours.

Unlike the derma roller, it is possible to adapt the needle length to each treatment zone and as the pen is vertical the micro wounds are more round-shaped, leading to better absorption of growth factors.

Does it hurt?

Depending on the depth of the needle and the area treated we will apply a special numbing cream before treatment – to block any sensation.

Although skin-needling creates a very minor (almost microscopic) trauma that lasts for a short time, some patients experience a light tingling sensation that passes quickly.

How long does the treatment take?

Most treatments take 1 hour, although this can extend to 1.5 hours depending on the treatment required. Some treatments will need adaptable needle length and therefore numbing cream before treatment

How many sessions are necessary?

To take full advantage of the Meso Therapy outcomes we highly recommend up to 6 treatments, with a minimum of 3 treatments. It is also advised to allow your skin to rejuvenate for at least 2- 4 weeks in between treatments.

Does Meso Therapy have any risks?

This is a topical non-invasive and all-natural procedure that simply encourages the natural healing components of the skin to begin.

There are no more risks associated with this treatment than there is with any other anti-aging procedure.

Approximately 3% of patients can get mild redness which will last for a few hours. 1% of patients can get bruising lasting up to three days – depending on higher-grade needle depth treatments.

Will I see the results immediately?

You will see an improvement in your skin after the first week or so. However, the new collagen is formed over 90 days and the results will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months.

What if I want the needle-free option?

The Glow Derma Pen™ is a high-voltage electroporation and photo biostimulation therapy device. It enhances the transdermal (through the epidermis to the dermis) and transcellular transport of products.

The specific pulsed high voltage current produces a cellular electroporation reducing the permeability of the skin and opening cellular pores. It induces the opening of the protein channels on the cellular membranes; this phenomenon allows the substances to reach the heart of the cells. At the same time, the light emitted by the LED is activating certain biological functions of the skin and the cells.

HOW TO USE?

1. Wash your hands and the area to be treated thoroughly
2. Wipe the skin and your hands with anti-bacterial gel ( you can skip this step if you are using needle lengths of less than 0.5mm)
3. If you are using numbing cream, follow the manufacturer's instructions for use. Always remove the cream completely before rolling ( you can use cotton pads soaked with alcohol to do this)
4. Rinse the derma roller under hot running water for a few seconds
5. Apply skin care product, if using
6. While pulling the skin taut with the free hands, roll forwards and backward over the area to be treated. Roller 8-10 times in each direction vertically, horizontally, and diagonally (forwards and back equal two rolls). Apply sufficient pressure for the needles to penetrate the skin to their full length. Lifting the derma roller slightly after each roll will ensure that the needles create new microchannels in the skin rather than going over the same ones repeatedly.
7. Wash the treated area and dry it with a clean towel or air-dry

AFTERCARE

For the next 2-5 days following treatment

  • MUST apply a sunscreen daily SPF30+
  • Avoid vigorous exercise, saunas, chlorinated and saltwater pools, steam baths, and hot showers for 48 hours following your treatment
  • Avoid waxing, IPL, Laser, or depilatory creams for 2 weeks following your treatment
  • Avoid applying tanning products for 2 weeks following your treatment.

Photon Dynamic Therapy

The biological tissue of the human body can absorb light and convert which can lead to a series of chemical reactions—photodecomposition, photo-oxidation, photopolymerization, and photosensitization. Different wavelength has different functions. The light can be absorbed by cell chondriosome and lead to enzymatic reaction.

Red light (650-730nm): Can penetrate deep skin, promote cell regeneration, stimulate collagen production, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and anti-aging.

Greenlight (430-450nm): Having a clear effect on sedation, soothing, and purifying, helping to speed up the healing of the minimally invasive skin.

Blue light (525-550nm): Mainly for acne and skin inflammation, it can start the bactericidal function of the human cells and destroy the living environment of the bacteria, anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, and eliminates acne of the skin.

Yellow light (565-570nm): Improves the exchange of oxygen in the cells, to the skin cells to replenish their energy, decompose pigment, promote lymphatic drainage, improve rough skin, wrinkles, treatment of skin redness, fever, moss, etc., enhance immunity.

Purple light (340-440nm): Is a dual red and blue light, which combines two phototherapy effects. Particularly, It has a good effect on repairing acne and acne prints.

Clear blue light (340-440nm): Can gradually enhance cell energy, to have a good metabolism facilitating role.

Laser light (white): Penetrate the skin deep, accelerate active tissue metabolism, decompose color Spots, and improve the appearance of fine lines and sagging skin.

Nano Needling

Nano needling is a less aggressive, needle-free alternative to microneedling. It’s a transdermal delivery system that targets lack of tone, uneven texture, pigmentation, scarring, and loss of elasticity.

Nano Needling is a wonderful skin rejuvenation technique to treat many of the same skin conditions.  Nano needling will have a positive effect in reducing the appearance of fine lines, improving skin tone and texture, shrinking pore size, reducing pigmentation, or helping to clear acne.

Nanoneedling creates microscopic channels 0.12 – 0.14 mm in depth in the outermost layers of the skin to allow better absorption of active ingredients. This allows your favorite skin products to achieve better patient results with no discomfort or downtime. Nano needling can be used by itself or as an addition to facials, peels, and microdermabrasion. Nano needling is recommended to be done in a series of weekly and bi-weekly treatments for the best possible results.

GLOW DERMA PEN PROTOCOL

Glow derma pen CHARGING: Ensure the charger base is plugged into an outlet and the Glow derma pen handpiece is placed onto the base with the power button facing up.

IMPORTANT: Keep dry. PRE-PROCEDURE PRECAUTIONS • Avoid excessive sun exposure/burns 24 hours before the procedure. • Discontinue the use of topical retinoids 24 hours before the procedure. • Avoid treatment on patients with active breakouts or open lesions. • Allow at least 24 hours after autoimmune therapies before a Glow derma pen treatment. • Wait six months following oral isotretinoin use. • Although not seen in the clinical study, in Fitzpatrick IV–VI, the pigment may darken before lightening.

PROCEDURE INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Have the patient complete the consent form.
  2. Explain the Glow derma pen procedure to the patient and set expectations.
  3. Apply single-use, non-latex gloves.
  4. Cleanse the patient’s face with a gentle cleansing complex to effectively remove makeup, sunscreen, and surface oils.
  5. Take “before” pictures of the procedure area.
  6. Open the Glow Derma Pen Treatment Kit and remove all contents.
  7. Apply the disposable cartridge to the Glow Derma pen.
  8. Install the cartridge onto the Glow Derma pen

  1. *NOTE: If a numbing agent was applied to provide patient comfort, the numbing agent must be removed from the skin with an antiseptic solution before the microneedling procedure. 10. Apply a thin layer of your favorite serum to protect the skin against abrasion and friction during the Glow Derma pen treatment. If the layer is too thick the microneedle cartridge may become clogged.
  2. Ensure the needle is set to “0” before starting a new procedure.
  3. Power on by pressing and holding the on/off button on the front of the Glow Derma pen for two seconds.

12. Adjust needle depth settings on the cartridge. New settings will be indicated by a “click” into place.

13. Select the Glow derma pen microneedle position based on patient needs. Start at a depth setting of 0.25mm.

Increase in increments of 0.25 mm or 0.5mm until desired erythema is reached, with a maximum depth of 1.5 mm on the face. Lower to 0.25-0.5 mm to perform the procedure around the orbital rim.

14. Divide the face into four quadrants. Start with the right cheek, move to the chin/perioral/ nose, then to the left cheek, and finish with the forehead.

15. Hold the skin taut and glide the pen in controlled horizontal motions.

Repeat with vertical motions in the same area. Repeat the pattern if the erythema endpoint is not reached. Depth may be increased within guidelines if necessary.

Gentle, one-directional circular motions in small targeted areas are acceptable if needed to assist in reaching the erythema endpoint.

16. For additional treatment of scar tissue, such as facial acne scars, a needle depth of 1.5mm may be used on the face.

As a general rule, the faster you set the speed on your Glow Derma pen, the deeper the needle will penetrate your skin.

PLEASE NOTE: The Glow derma pen device allows for an incremental increase in settings of up to 2.5 mm to allow for the variability in thickness of healthy skin and acne scar tissue. However, the device has not been clinically evaluated at cartridge settings of greater than 1.5 mm. As there are fine structures (i.e., nerve branches and accompanying blood vessels) that run under the skin and are essential to proper tissue function, it is not recommended to treat at needle depths greater than 1.5mm. The thickness of the patient’s skin in each anatomical area to be treated must be assessed by a qualified clinician to address any potential risk of injuring these structures.

Such structures include (but are not limited to) the supraorbital nerve (the terminal branch of the frontal nerve that provides the sensory innervations for the skin of the forehead, mucosa of the frontal sinus, and the skin of the upper eyelid) and the temporal, buccal and marginal mandibular branches of the facial nerve (the motor nerve that controls facial muscle movement). No adverse events were observed relating to such structures in the Glow Derma Pen clinical study when treating at a needle depth of up to 1.5mm.

NOTE: Microneedling should not be used within the orbital rim, such as the eyelids.

IMPORTANT: Microchannels created during the procedure may remain open for up to 24 hours.

NOTE: This product is not intended for transdermal (under the skin) delivery of cosmetics, drugs, or biologics. Unexpected complications may occur when products not proven safe for use with microneedling are applied post-procedure.
